Nov 17 (Reuters) – Online gambling software developer Playtech Plc said it had received a takeover approach from JKO Play Limited, a company controlled by former F1 boss Eddie Jordan and Keith O’Loughlin, a former executive at U.S.slot machine maker Scientific Games.

JKO is seeking access to due diligence information in order to explore the terms of a potential takeover offer, Britain’s Playtech said in a statement, the latest in a series of takeover interest for the firm.

Playtech said it put out the statement in response to media speculation of the possible takeover offer and without JKO’s prior consent.JKO could not immediately be contacted for a comment.

The news was first reported by Sky News, which said website that Jordan was part of a consortium plotting a bid for Playtech of over 3 billion pounds ($4.05 billion).

JKO had indicated to Playtech it was in discussions with New York-based Centerbridge Partners L.P.to provide institutional debt and structured capital funding, Playtech said, adding that Centerbridge had not yet made any financing commitments.

Centerbridge did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Playtech said discussions with JKO were at an early stage and there was no certainty they will result in a takeover offer.

The takeover approach comes after Australian gambling machine maker Aristocrat Leisure said last month it would buy Playtech for 2.1 billion pounds.

Weeks later, Playtech said it was in talks with its second-biggest shareholder, Gopher Investments, over a possible takeover offer.

Los Angeles FC have signed former Chelsea goalkeeper Jamal Blackman.

The 27-year-old Englishman will occupy an international roster slot through 2021, with a club option for 2022.

The 6-foot-6 Blackman rose through the ranks at the Chelsea Academy as a youth player before signing his pro contract in 2012.He was on the roster when Chelsea made the 2012 UEFA Champions League final and when the Blues won the 2015-16 Premier League championship.

NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Stuart Smith said money laundering is “the most significant aspect of organised crime”.

“Without the generation of wealth which is legalised through process, they can’t be what they are, which is a problem to society,” Mr Smith said.

NSW Digital and Customer Service Minister Victor Dominello said the inquiry would give the government its first understanding of “the link between organised crime and how they use pokies to launder dirty cash”.

At the end of June, there were more than 87,000 poker machines in clubs and hotels around NSW.

Mr Dominello told a budget estimates hearing in October that a 62 per cent increase in gambling tax revenue Treasury factored into the state budget’s forward estimates up to 2024/25 are “broad figures”.

He told the hearing that “cashless gaming, because it provides oversight, will go a long way to fixing the twin evils of problem gambling and money laundering”.

The NSW government is currently trialling cashless gaming machines.

“There are venues that want to do the right thing and participate in a more sustainable future and I applaud them,” Mr Dominello said on Friday.

He said the commission’s inquiry will be powerful and targeted but was not worried about any decrease in gambling tax revenue hitting the budget.

“There’s a hit to the budget because organised crime, drugs and human trafficking cost the budget in terms of untold lives and damage and costs to the health system and destruction of families,” he said.

“We are spending so much money … whether it’s gambling addiction or organised crime these are things we need to tackle.”
